Caledon Community Services offers the Pre-CLB course, designed for adults educated in their 1st language who are beginning to learn English from zero. This course bridges the gap between literacy and CLB 1-2, providing a strong foundation for future language learning. Lessons are task-oriented, learner-centred, and inclusive, focusing on themes from the ESL- ALL Curriculum.
Progress is monitored using CLB level descriptors, and students are encouraged to engage with their community through volunteering and interaction. The program follows the HyFlex classroom model, allowing for in-person, hybrid, or 100% virtual participation. A typical day includes: 9:00 AM - 10:00 AM: Asynchronous independent learning. 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM: Synchronous teacher-led activities. 12:30 PM - 2:30 PM: Continued asynchronous learning. Participants benefit from the support of a Digital Navigator and access to a device loaning program via 3rd party orgs, ensuring equitable access to tech.
